JOB DESCRIPTION

Carries out engineering assignments of limited scope and complexity. Under the general direction of a senior engineer, is responsible for a project or part of a project or operation requiring a thorough knowledge of engineering and related fields (quality control, time and motion studies, etc.). Work is reviewed in detail with guidance given. May give limited technical guidance to junior professionals or technicians working on a common project. Description:
Our client is seeking a Technical Designer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Raleigh, NC. This is an on-site position with no telecommute possibilities.

• This position will perform senior-level functions and interface with senior client and its vendors' technical personnel.
• This position will require short term travel 70-75% (Travel is Mon-Fri)
• This position will require occasional overtime and possibly night/weekend work.

Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Perform Site Survey Layer-1 Designs for all pathways and support systems, including Multi floor pathways and penetrations for Fiber Optical Cable / Copper Backbones. (Large facilities from 200,000 to 1.5 million sq. ft., open floor work environments.)
• Perform QA Inspections - of the wiring installations during Mid-Point and Final Site Inspections, ensuring compliance of Manufacturer, Industry, NEC, and client design standards. (Identify, document, and report all discrepancies.)
• Candidate will perform random QA Sampling (testing) of copper and fiber during Final Site Inspection, comparing findings with vendor provided Test Results.
• Provide Network Design, and Project Coordination with client telecom teams.
• Coordinate with other trades and sub-contractors as needed to provide and include electrical and HVAC requirements for Consolidated Computer Room (CCR), Telecom Rooms (TR), and Telecom Enclosures (TE).
• Coordinate and produce structured cable designs to support work area outlet types, configurations, and locations.
• Create project scope of work based on project design and technology requirements and criteria.
• Discuss with the contractor how client expects the Fiber and Copper to be installed, terminated, tested, and the test results will be delivered to clients.

Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• Bachelor's degree and 5 years experience. 4 years additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• BICSCI RCDD Certification
• Minimum 3+ years experience with Layer 1 installation and design
• Experience with MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Strong experience with Auto-CAD
• Solid understanding of installation & service in areas such as; network cabling (Fiber and Copper CAT 6/6A), LAN/WAN, servers, printers, phones and other devices related to Industrial infrastructure.
• Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance – US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), and must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in last 5 years.
• Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years

Description:
Duties:
1. The Tool Engineer 3 develops and designs a variety of tools and equipment required to support the manufacturing, quality and test operations.
2. These positions performs feasibility analysis of special tool plans; create tool concepts and drawings utilizing environmental health and safety procedures, tool standards manuals and sound engineering practices; initiate fabrication and assist with inspection and operational checkout of special tools; and resolve tooling problems encountered during tool usage.
3. Under general direction, the Senior Tool Engineer determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices.

Typical responsibilities include:
1. Provides imaginative, thorough and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of tool engineering techniques.
2. Conceives and plans projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives.
3. Performs tool design and modification requiring knowledge of production processes, requirements, design concepts and materials.
4. Interprets production plans and creates tooling to accomplish contractual or production requirements
5. Coordinates and clarifies engineering and design standards.
6. Performs complex stress analyses and advises on structural requirements, machine suitability and method of fabrication.
7. Develops complex machine shop tooling, special tooling for production, inspection tooling, test tooling, and handling equipment.

10. Maintains an interchange of information with tool suppliers regarding optimum fabrication methods, materials, designs and repairs.
11. Prepares design and fabrication cost estimates, schedule of materials and manpower.
12. Provides technical guidance to less senior tool engineers and designers.
13. Directs tool design and fabrication of special tooling.
14. Presents formal tool and design reviews and may include customer interface.
15. Maintains budget and schedule for assigned project tool string.
16. Provides manpower forecasting for design on assigned project.
17. May include cost account management.
18. Provides technical support and assistance in manufacturing process planning.
19. Provides support to product engineering to attain manufacturability and tooling feasibility.
20. May work closely with strategic suppliers in design and fabrication techniques and tool quality acceptance.
21. Prepares or updates Program Tooling and Equipment List with input from other functional groups.
22. Coordinates review and approval of drawings and design schematics in accordance with approval requirements of CM-EP001-1.

We are seeking a Design Checker who will examine aerospace engineering CAD models, drawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and sound design to prescribed standards and contractual requirements.
